Yarn Along: Baby Photo Props

Joining Ginny for the Yarn Along.

20140115-104359.jpgThis week I’m working on something a bit different: baby knits. Crazy, huh?!?

I know, I know, it doesn’t sound all that different from what I normally do. It is, though, and here’s why: I got hooked up recently with a barter group in my area. When I looked around our house I wasn’t sure if had much to trade (other than baby girl clothes – we have tons of those) but then I found out some of the people are interested in handknits and handmade toys. Those I can do well, so I reached out to a someone about a trade and sent her some pics of my stuff and she loved it all! She’s a fellow homeschool mama who was looking for some stuff for her daughter and her photography business, so I put together a package that I’m working on this week – a handknit baby photo prop set and a couple of wooden gnomes. In exchange, we are getting a nearly new elliptical machine, which I’m very excited about.

I didn’t see one pattern for the hat that had all the features I wanted so came up with my own. I’ll post notes when it’s finished.

For reading, I finished listening to the Yarn Harlot’s first book and have moved on the her second, another book full of humorous knitting anecdotes and tips. Perfect to listen to while knitting.

I'm a stay-at-home homebirthing, VBACing, breastfeeding mama, advocate and sometimes artist, sometimes web designer. We are located on the East Coast (but long for the West Coast) where we try to live simply, playing with natural toys, eating organic, vegetarian foods and using our imaginations and creativity as much as possible. I knit and I'm in the process of learning to sew so I can make (or at least attempt to make) many of the items we need and use and want to surround us.

  1. Wow! Baby knits for an elliptical? That’s an *awesome* trade – go you!

  2. That’s totally awesome!! You should start selling your stuff on Etsy again. 🙂 You could be in the business of prop kits!!

  3. The hat looks like it is going to be very cute!

  4. Wow! I’d GLADLY do that for an elliptical machine as well. Hope you enjoy it.
